Design Festa No. 44 was held last weekend on November 26th and 27th at Tokyo Big Sight. With 3,000 booths and over 10,000 visitors, the convention is known as the largest art event in Japan. Inviting artists crafting accessories made from real food to works of Japanese traditional cutting paper art (Kiri-e), the festival welcomes creators of all genres, and even hosts shows and events including dance performances, fashion shows, and live music.
One of the most exciting exhibits of the Design Festa is undoubtedly the live painting booths stationed at various corners of the venue. By revealing their entire process towards creating a completed work of visual art, artists showcase their honed skills and creativity to thousands of visitors passing by. Here are some of the top selections out of the countless masterpieces composed during this 44th biannual event, as well as unique handcrafted products offered at artists' booths.
