When you just can’t decide what you want off the menu, Kaitenzushi (conveyor belt sushi) created a novel way to solve that problem. The various dishes parade themselves tantalisingly past your very eyes. If you like what you see, you can simply reach out and take it.
But why has this genius idea only been applied to sushi? Well Café Ron Ron in Harajuku are about to change that, giving another type of food a go round on the belt. In the spiritual home of all things cute and sweet, what else but desserts?
The new cafe will be opening next week and will boast 25 different types of dessert from macrons to cotton candy to pancakes to ice cream. At 1800 yen, you can enjoy a 40 minutes all you can eat sweets buffet (including drinks) where the desserts come to you for a change.
The cafe's name, 'Ron Ron', is apparently French for the sound a cat makes when it's satisfied, and kitty motifs run throughout the menu. If you need more sustenance than just sugar, there will also be mini hamburgers and egg sandwiches to placate your stomach before cracking on with the sweet stuff.
