If you've spent time exploring Japanese convenience stores, you may be familiar with Lawson's "Karaage-kun"--addictive fried chicken nuggets sold at the hot food corner of the register. While seasonal flavors pop up now and then, Karaage-kun's latest incarnation is something for JRPG fans--Final Fantasy Fried Chicken!

So what does a Limit Break taste like? Well in the case of this Karaage-kun, it's the spicy garlic oil this batch is fried up in. Lawson says that's because the "scorching garlic oil flavor will cause you to activate a limit break". While we tried them and didn't find them to be anywhere near unbearable spicy, the juicy bits of chicken packed a good amount of punch and were dangerously easy to go through quickly.

Outside of the cute and friendly Moogle face inviting you to take a bite, as a special ode to fans of the popular RPG series, Lawson registers will play the Victory Fanfare when you actually make your purchase of the chicken.

The batch is currently available at Lawson's in Japan and will run until February 4th, with boxes priced at 216 yen. While we weren't so lucky, 1 in 700 pieces of chicken will feature the meteora symbol on them as a rare prize. Perhaps it'll make a suiting addition to the catering of the upcoming available Final Fantasy XIV themed wedding ceremonies.
