Combining the themes of "a sense of wonder" and the natural world, last year's Bokura no Mori ボクらのもり (literally "Our Forest") brought together talented Japanese artists displaying a variety of small-scale works ranging from accessories, sculptures, art objects, paintings and more. Fortunately for those who missed it, this little exhibition is back for a second round, this time at the maruse B1 gallery innervisions in Meguro. If you plan on being in Tokyo between March 1st and 17th and have an interest in art, especially if you'd like to take something home with you, you may want to stop by.
In anticipation of the event, many of the participating artists have been active on Twitter, using the hashtag #ボクらのもり展2 and posting images of the works they intend to show (and sell). Here are a few which caught our attention:
Masakiya (@masakiya1624), who works primarily in kirie paper cutting but also creates resin sculptures, graciously allowed us to use the image of her beautiful creation called sora mimizuku 宙ミミズク, which reminds us a bit of Cosmic Owl from Adventure Time:
"I completed sora mimizuku #1 | Contained within the horned owl are stars and space."
Illustrator and designer junya (@junya_uzawa) will exhibit miniature framed paintings:
"My mini frames are looking good! | I'll bring them along to Bokura no Mori 2."
Yamashis Works (@yamashis_works), who creates art he calls kiriorigami combining kirie and origami techniques, will debut his new series:
"Until now I've focused on stand-along pieces but in this new series, I'm exploring a new pattern! | The first framed pieces from Yamashis Works, debuting at Bokura no Mori 2!"
Kirie and tsumamizaiku つまみ細工 (pinching craft) artist koame (@koame__) will have a spring-themed selection representing both of her art styles.
Seed bead artist yoshie*beads (@yoshiebeads) will exhibit her latest adorable tiny creatures made of the smallest seed beads:
"I will be exhibiting this year as well at Bokura no Mori 2 | This time, you'll also see a long-tailed tit! | Of course, like last time, I'll also bring along owls, squirrels, foxes, rabbits and others! | And (don't ask me why, but) also dragons! :)"
Piisuke (@KAPUSERUDO), who loves birds (particularly parakeets) and fish, will be exhibiting accessories such as these, also featuring a long-tailed tit (Yes, that's the name of the bird).
"A necklace combining a long-tailed tit in mid-flight and a snowflake."
