Miyazaki Prefecture on the southeastern coast of Kyushu is a hidden gem which deserves to be explored. Although it doesn't boast any major tourist attractions, it is of vital importance for Japanese people since it is the backdrop for Japan's creation myths and the birthplace of many gods in Japanese mythology.

However, without seeing the beautiful natural settings which inspired those myths, it's hard to get excited about it, especially if you're a potential tourist considering places to visit on a trip to Japan.

Fortunately, a new video made through a collaboration between Miyazaki Prefecture and Canon is now available to the public.

Filmed with Canon's EF Cinema Lenses ranging from wide-angle to telephoto and Canon's latest video camera, the gorgeous 8K-resolution video explores the "Roots of Japan," capturing such scenes as Takachiho Shrine and ritual Kagura dancing, the Amanoyasu-kawara cave, sake making at a brewery in the town of Hinokage, and more.

You can enjoy the video now on YouTube here:

Canon plans on releasing an 8K version later on YouTube but if you happen to be in Miyazaki now and can't wait, you can see it today and tomorrow from 10:00 to 14:00 at the Miyazaki Public Enterprise Bureau Office 1F Kenden Hall. Those living in or visiting the Kanto area can also see the video on a big screen in 4K at the CP+ Camera and Photo Imaging Show 2019, which will be held at the Pacifico Yokohama convention center from February 28th to March 3rd.
