Snow-covered cherry blossom flowers provide a serene way to capture the sakura season
For those of us in Tokyo, cherry blossom season already seems like a distant memory.
But residents of the chillier north of Japan are only just saying goodbye to the floral phenomenon now, in one final burst of pink.
The last of the sakura scenery was beautifully captured by photographer, Yukinori Hasumi, showing the illuminated night time cherry blossom in Aomori's Hirosaki city. Hirosaki Park, home of Hirosaki Castle, is one of the top spots for sakura in all of Japan, and it’s easy to see why.
These mesmerising photos show the romantic pink petals against the striking blue sky. The reflections in the river give the scenery a dream-like atmosphere.
For contrast with these dramatic shots, the photographer also took stunning daytime photos showing the park bathed in sunlight. The fallen petals had almost completely covered the surface of the river and ducks can be seen swimming through them, making a trail behind themselves.
The photo sets fully showcase the beauty of sakura in both day and night time scenery.
We can’t believe that cherry blossom season is already over, but at least we have autumn’s arresting scenes to look forward too later this year!
