Popular virtual YouTuber Kaguya Luna and noodle maker Nissin raised eyebrows and adrenaline levels with their wonderfully crazy commercial for Sosu Yakisoba U.F.O. featuring music from Maximum the Hormone a few months ago:

But if you think Luna-chan's adventures with U.F.O. were over, think again! Nissin has more lofty aspirations, quite literally!

Space Challenge

The history of space exploration is about to mark a new milestone! In 1961, the former USSR launched the first man into space. In 1969, the US Apollo 11 mission landed the first man on the moon. In 1981, NASA's Space Shuttle had its first flight. In 1998, construction began on the International Space Station...

And on June 24th, 2019, Japan will launch Nissin Yakisoba U.F.O. into space!

Kaguya Luna will perform a smartphone livestream from the highest altitude even attempted in the history of human civilization!

With the help of Space Entertainment Laboratory, which already has a successful track record launching high altitude balloons to a height of 30 km {18.6 mi} (for example, their music video project with idol group Dempagumi.Inc), and a staff of 34 including stratospheric balloon tracking expert Prof. Hidetoshi Mino of Yamanashi University and expert in rocket launching and stratsopheric balloon experiments Prof. Hiroaki Akiyama of Wakayama University, Nissin will launch a specially rigged package of Sosu Yakisoba U.F.O. into space, in an attempt to break the previous Guinness World Record for highest smartphone livestream of 18.42 km {11.44 miles} established by Huawei in 2016.

Kaguya Luna reaching new heights

And here is the specially rigged package of instant noodles which will embark on this unprecedented journey into space, the "U.F.O. 1." The chopsticks and packing tape connecting Kaguya Luna to the package have passed rigorous and repeated testing to meet Nissin's seal of approval.

Based on Space Entertainment Laboratory's track record, the team fully expects the rig to exceed the 18.42 kilometer mark and continue on its journey well past 20 kilometers, if not higher as Kaguya Luna broadcasts live.

Launching from Mongolia

For safety purposes, the launch will take place in Mongolia, the country with the lowest population density in the world. Moreover, the launch date not only coincides with an arid season in Mongolia which is most suitable for real time video streaming, June 24th is forecast to have a low probability of precipitation. Finally, June 24th is World UFO Day in commemoration of what is generally considered to be the first widely reported unidentified flying object sighting by aviator Kenneth Arnold.

The team has already conducted numerous tests on location in preparation for the June 24th launch and the Guinness World Record challenge.
