An effort to popularize para-sports in Japan titled the Para Plus Project has recently launched in Japan. The project depicts para-athletes and the world of para-sports through bujinga, traditional Japanese ink art portraits of samurai and their battles.

The gorgeous and inspiring illustrations are done by Masayuki Kojo, a professional artist who specializes in bujinga--in the past he's painted stunning Japanese warrior portraits of Darth Vader and The Avengers. Kojo has previous spoken about showing a warrior's determination and preparation to step onto the battlefield, and hopes to show how para-athletes carry that same spirit when they prepare for competition.

Included in the main portrait are para-sports such as badminton, tennis, and powerlifting. You can view the illustrations in detail at the official Para Plus Project website, as well as find more information about the project's expansion.
