With the final film in the series ready to hit theaters later this year, it's safe to say that Evangelion fans are getting excited. In addition to collaborations with products like these UCC coffee cans and hotels like this Evangelion-themed buffet, Evangelion excitement is coming to smartphones on March 26th with the launch of Evangelion Battlefields.

First announced at last year's Tokyo Game Show, the game, which will be available on both iOS and Android is an MMO with turn-based combats where you can control EVAs and choose different abilities to use during battle.

As an unusual extra feature, the game will also allow you to interact with real-life collectible figurines which are interfaced with the game through an EVA-shaped controller sold by Takara Tomy (reservations now open):

Main visual

On March 5th, the game's main visual was released on the game's teaser site for the first time:

Emergency error code (pre-registration) campaign

According to the press release, "it would seem that an unidentified entity has hacked the teaser site! The EVABF operation team has engaged them and are fighting back. To help in their fight, they've released the details of the "emergency error code" (pre-registration campaign) which will be your first mission."

Five players chosen by lottery will win a complete set of Evangelion Battlefields Season 1 gaming figures (12 types in total). Furthermore, after the official service starts, all users will receive 30 gems (in-game reward).

Find out all the details at the teaser site here.
