Since its inception in 1996, almost all Pokemon games and films have begun with an opening monologue about humans and Pokémon living side by side in harmony. For fans of the series, hearing that same affirmation at the start of each movie and game evokes the feelings of companionship that Pokemon is all about. Pokemon is a portmanteau of ‘pocket monsters’ after all; the central concept of these cute creatures is that they’re ever by your side.

Now, Bandai Candy Co. Ltd, a subsidiary of famous Japanese toy company Bandai Co., Ltd, is releasing a series of Pokemon figures, 1/20th of the size of the “real” things, so Poke-fans can literally carry physical Pokemon in their pockets. Keep reading to find out more about the specific Pokemon and how you can collect em all!

Galar Region Pokemon Figures

Bandai Candy is releasing a selection of Pokemon from the new Pokemon Sword and Shield series this September 2020. Pokemon Sword and Shield takes place in the Galar Region and features some of the series most magnificent monsters yet. The new figure collection includes 12 Galar region Pokemon, including all starter Pokemon and their evolutions, and 1 Pokemon trainer called Gloria in English and Yuri in Japan, the female protagonist from the Sword and Shield games.

Pokemon Scale World

Pokemon Scale World brings pokemon to life at 1/20th of their actual size. The candy figure series aims to bring to life “a world where people and Pokemon coexist”. This means collectors can enjoy cradling an Evee no bigger than the size of their fingertip to bulkier pokemon like Venusaur which may require two hands to hold.

The Galar region collection is the fourth Scale World edition, with previous editions containing Kanto and Johto region Pokemon. Each Scale World set also comes with a stick of Pokemon chewing gum.

How to catch em all

Rather than throwing Pokeballs at monsters, you will need to throw coins at merchants to acquire these new figures. You can purchase the figures online from Bandai’s shopping website, Premium Bandai, or you can collect them at candy counters in mass retailers across Japan.

Figures are scheduled to go on sale this September, 2020, and will be priced as follows:
