GBL is a lineup of official Studio Ghibli merchandise which reimagines motifs from the classic animations as trendy and wearable fashion items. The style is described as ‘American casual’ and their latest range of t-shirts, which are loose-fitting and feature various retro designs, fit in perfectly with the current trend in Tokyo street fashion for baggy, skater-like wear.

Overall there’s 22 new awesome designs in GBL’s spring-summer collection, inspired by 9 of Ghibli’s most iconic films.

There's shirts based on Laputa Castle in the Sky.

Fan favourite My Neighbour Totoro takes up the lion's share of the designs.

But Kiki’s Delivery Service fans still have a couple to choose from.

Porco Rosso and Princess Mononoke appear too.

Or Spirited Away has some suitably mysterious designs.

Arrietty, Whisper of the Heart, and Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind also feature in their own stylish shirts.

The theme takes on a vintage feel, with a stone-wash finish making these t-shirts look like gems you might find in a trendy used clothing store. Most of the shirts are white but there’s a few other colours on offer too.

Aside from printed designs there’s also some embroidered details which make the t-shirts a bit more special. Like this No-face hovering ominously in front of the Spirited Away printed background.

These stylish designs can now be preordered from GBL’s online shop. Each cotton t-shirt costs 4880 yen (before tax) and can be copped in a range of sizes from S to XXL.

While GBL was previously an online-only brand, their first ever real life store will be opening in Miyashita Park, Shibuya, later this summer.
