You could say that fans of Little Witch Academia, the internationally popular anime franchise created by Yoh Yoshinari and produced by Trigger, have been on a wild broom ride since the first film aired in 2013. But now, they're literally going to be able to hop on a broomstick and jump into action with the upcoming release of "Little Witch Academia VR Broom Racing."

Following a sequel film supported by a crowdfunding campaign that achieved its goal in just five hours, a two-season anime, and a manga adaptation, the adventure is finally coming to VR. Here again, crowdfunding has been crucial, since the game was made possible through a campaign last year which was divided between Kickstarter and the Japanese crowdfunding site Campfire.

The game will be released on October 13th, 2020 on the Oculus Quest platform, with support for PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift, and Steam VR in early 2021.

In "Little Witch Academia VR Broom Race," you'll enroll as a witch in training and experience over 10 race tracks as you team up with the beloved characters of the series like Akko, Lotte, and Sucy. There will also be a multi-player option.

Hop on your broom and follow Akko and the others on an exciting race:

Purify ghosts while collaborating with other characters on the "Ghost Hunt"

Create your own personalized broomstick in "Broom Customization"

There's an original story for you to enjoy as well:

In the game, you'll be introduced to a new original character, Nebby. A "smart crystal," Nebby will guide student players throughout their adventures. The role is voiced by Yu Serizawa (Yumemi Yumemite in Kakegurui, Nijimi Anazawa in Mahou Shoujo Site, Ueno in How Clumsy You Are, Ms. Ueno)

The game's exclusive theme song "Dream Flight" brings together songwriter/composer Yuiko Ohara who sang the opening theme of the anime series and YURiKA who sang its ending theme.

UNIVRS Inc., which is producing "Little Witch Academia VR Broom Race," has implemented its unique anti-motion sickness technology (patent pending), thereby resolving a common complaint of action-based VR games.
