With Japan’s promised annual heat and humidity, exploring in the summer can be a trip full of blood, sweat and tears for our feet.

Village Vanguard is a hot spot for fashionistas and fanatics of quirky, geeky and unique merchandise.
Specialising in selling alternative clothing and make up products as well as books, comics and toys, you can be sure that you can always find something to pique your interest in the store’s constantly evolving lineup.

One of the most popular brands sold in stores is Sucredoll, which specialises in producing yume-kawaii (dreamy and cute) fashion items.
Last year the brand introduced a series of kawaii shoes featuring Chinese inspired motifs. This summer they are adding to the collection and have created oriental-patterned mesh shoes perfect for keeping your toes cool in the inevitable heat.

Comfy, stylish and practical, the shoes come in two varieties; a small kitten heel or in ballet flats.

The small kitten heel shoe comes in 5 colours and features a cute hook and loop material clasp around the ankle.
The available colours are red, pink, baby blue, black and white.

The ballet flats are available in 2 colours and come with a similar embroidery design. Differing from the kitten heel design, the ballet flat is secured to the foot using ribbons around the ankle. The sole is made of a soft rubber, meaning that the shoes can easily be folded in half for carrying in a small handbag on nights out.
The ballet flat comes in white or pink.

Both styles of the shoe are available for the price of 4950 yen (including tax) and can be purchased at the Village Vanguard online store.
The brand’s previous other designs are also available on the website.
