Most people don't like a lonely night. As winter approaches throughout the northern hemisphere, the importance of a good snuggle is increasingly paramount.

And this seems to be true throughout the animal kingdom. We at grape Japan have covered pets that just can’t bear the thought of sleeping alone. Consider this sleepy kitten who knows where to nap. No matter what, she is going to sleep on her owner’s lap.

And even more "ahhh-inspiring" is this one-year-old otter who can't sleep without her stuffed toy. Although she initially seems restless, as soon as she snuggles up, it seems she's down for the night. Indeed, she looks perfectly happy with her stuffed pig by her side.

Time for Bed

Who knows, maybe it's a type of co-dependency that animals and humans share. Nevertheless, there is a common need to cuddle up before going to bed.

Recently, manga artist AKR (@bou128) published a manga about her sleepy cat who is ready to turn in for the night. Only one problem, the illustrator seems to have trouble understanding she has no intention of laying down alone.

Fortunately, persistence pays off. After tucking in, Rōn is asleep in a matter of moments.

Readers thought the whole situation was rather adorable. They responded:

  • “Our cat is the same way. When I’m up late on the computer, she’ll come up in front of the screen as to say, ‘Hey, it’s time for bed.’”
  • “I get this completely. It’s incredibly cute.”
  • “Rōn certainly loves her owner. This was refreshing to read.”
