Eating parfaits as a sweet conclusion to a night out or a nice dinner, a trend known as shimé pafé シメパフェ (literally, "closer parfait"), began in Sapporo in 2014 and has made quite a few inroads in other major Japanese cities. For example, we saw Nagoya's emerging shimé pafé scene last year. And now, they've become more common in Tokyo too. There's even an all-night parfait shop in Kabukicho called Roy to Silo where you can enjoy a parfait after the last train has left.

While shimé pafé specialty shops like Roy to Silo are still the exception, you'll find many cafes and restaurants adding special parfaits to their nighttime menu.

Tooth Tooth Tokyo's Shimé Pafé

From November 19th, they're offering the following three "closer parfaits" to patrons ordering from their dinner menu:

Beni Madonna Orange and Bergamot Parfait: 1,400 JPY + tax

This parfait is full of fresh citrus fruits of the season. The Beni Madonna orange from Ehime Prefecture has a surprising jelly-like texture, rich aroma and elegant sweetness, which perfectly matches the flavor of bergamot. Served with a mousse made of the exceptionally sweet and rich-flavored Anno sweet potato and a scoop of orange ice cream.

Belgian Chocolate and Griotte Cherry Parfait: 1,300 JPY + tax

This parfait takes inspiration from the Italian affogato, using vanilla ice cream and espresso and served in an Old Fashioned glass with Griotte cherries, Belgian chocolate, and caramelized hazelnuts. It's a sophisticated parfait, with a touch of bitterness from the espresso.

Yamagata Grace Red Wine Gelato and Strawberry Parfait: 1,500 JPY + tax

This multi-layered parfait combines the refined taste of red wine gelato from Premium Gelateria Yamagata Grace, creamy Fromage Blanc, and a confiture of Tochiotome strawberries, known for their perfect balance of sweetness and tartness. Topping it off is a delightful gelee enlivened with rose petals, raspberries, and blueberries.
