In Japan, when one makes a trip to Tokyo, there's a high chance they might come back with a big box of Tokyo Banana for their friends, family, or co-workers. That's because the banana and milk flavored sponge cake (shaped like bananas, of course) are often touted as Tokyo's number one sweets souvenir. The popular banana treat has been turned into soft serve ice cream and "premium" golden Kit Kats (even some with Mt. Fuji packaging), but their recent incarnation may be their cutest yet.
Just last month, Tokyo Banana teamed up with Pokémon to release a batch of delicious and adorable Pikachu versions of their sponge cakes. Now in a follow-up to that, they're turning to another popular Pokémon with an all new flavor: Eevee Tokyo Banana cakes!
Much like the Pikachu version, the new Eevee edition will come in six different Eevee facial patterns. If you're lucky, you'll be able to find a rare heart-tailed Eevee as well!
Aside from its adorable appearance, part of the draw of this lineup is that it features a new flavor of Tokyo Banana. The Eeevee Tokyo Banana cakes use a combination chocolate flavored sponge cake and a caramel macchiato custard cream feeling that the maker says recreates the fluffy and bubbly happy demeanor of Eeevee.
They're individually wrapped in Pokéball packaging as well.
The fluffy Eevee Tokyo Banana cakes will be released at 7-11 convenience stores throughout Japan at different dates depending on the prefecture in packs of two for 291 yen.
