If your Venn diagram of interests includes Japanese subculture, street fashion, and cyberpunk, chances are you already know about Hirofumi Matsuura 松浦啓文, who goes by the artist name CHA2 (pronounced "cha-tsu") and runs the fashion brand trico inc.

Inspired by the world of robot anime and video games, he uses the latest gadgets and technologies to create visually stunning creations at the intersection of fashion and media art, motivated by what he describes on his Twitter profile as "a mission to convey a sense of excitement about the near future."

Combining his own trico brand street fashion that boldly displays futuristic typography and graphic design, on the one hand, and various forms of light and display technology featuring still or motion graphics on the other, he creates an impressive cyberpunk aesthetic with looks that seem lifted from science fiction films or video games.

His creations posted on his Twitter and Instagram accounts are always popular, but one he posted recently has been particularly well received, collecting 84,000 likes and 21,000 retweets at the time of writing:

The motion graphics he created for the visor are displayed on a Royole flexible OLED display and installed in a visor made by 中央町戦術工芸 Chuōmachi Tactical Crafts (who made the Nekomimi Unit we saw model and cosplayer Sha'in Shokudō Giragira wearing in our feature article).

The animation on the display creates the impression that there is some kind of active eye-tracking technology at work, but it's just an animation loop. Still, it's very impressive.

If you'd like to download the animation, you can get it at the link below. You're free to use it as you please, as long as you don't sell it to a third party.

Even the display maker Royole took notice:

As you can imagine, CHA2 has many other impressive works that he has posted to his social media accounts. For example, take a look at these:

When the technology isn't yet available to achieve his vision, he creates videos superimposing computer graphics on clothing and gear, for an amazing effect:
