Due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection, many restaurants and eateries facing economic crisis have decided to close their businesses, while others are trying new approaches such as introducing take-out and delivery services.

You can help: Tío Pepe's tasty recipe for survival

A good example is the local Italian restaurant "Tío Pepe" in Niigata City which was facing declining revenue. Uncle Pepe wasn't going to take this pandemic sitting down, so he decided to call for support through an online store.

On January 28, the restaurant started selling a kit that allows customers to enjoy its popular paella at home. (Yes, we know paella is Spanish and this is an Italian restaurant, but let's not that get in the way of a good cause). The paella kit has all the ingredients to make authentic seafood paella, including snow crabs and squids freshly caught and delivered by fishermen from Sado Island in Niigata Prefecture.

This is the "[Pandemic Support] Tío Pepe's Niigata Paella Kit," which allows you to easily recreate the taste of Tío Pepe's popular paella dish at home. All you need to provide is a frying pan with a lid.

Inside the kit, you'll find a letter from Uncle Pepe and his daughter.

If you aren't into paella, you can also show your support with an authentic curry that can be easily prepared by boiling water, "[Pandemic Support] Tío Pepe's Koshino Chicken Rich and Delicious Curry 4-Piece Set."

The dishes are made with the finest ingredients sourced from Niigata Prefecture, and when you enjoy them, you'll feel like you're eating out while staying at home.

In the Pandemic Support series, you can also buy Tío Pepe's Special Wagyu Beef Sauce and, if you're feeling generous, their Soft-Steamed Sado Black Abalone with Liver Sauce. If you're interested, check it out here!
