For the last two decades, Earth Day Tokyo has been involved in raising awareness and promoting action for environmental causes in Japan, connecting citizens with various environmental action groups. This year, due to the circumstances of the novel coronavirus pandemic, Earth Day Tokyo will connect multiple physical venues and online events for a total of 9 days from April 17th (Sat) to 25th (Sun).

Within this framework, Earth Day Tokyo will host "SUSTAINABLE FASHION WEEK 2020+1" on April 24th (Sat) and 25th (Sun).

It's crucial to shift to a sustainable lifestyle in order to achieve the SDG goals by 2030. The field of "fashion" is an important one that enriches our daily lives. At the same time, it can be a trigger for a change in consumer behavior, one of the key points for environmental action.

During the event, booths for various executive committee teams and sponsors will be set up, and talk sessions will be held online from each venue.

SUSTAINABLE FASHION WEEK 2020+1 is a joint project of Fashion Revolution Japan, the Japanese branch of Fashion Revolution, a global campaign for transparency and environmental action in the fashion industry, and Earth Day Tokyo. The event is held every year on April 24, the day of the Rana Plaza garment factory collapse in Bangladesh, a tragic but crucial event that accelerated awareness and changes affecting the protection of human rights as well as consumer behavior relating to the fashion industry.

Message from KOM_I:

KOM_I will also participate in a talk program at MIYASHITA PARK on April 24-25.

"On Earth Day this year, we will be participating in SUSTAINABLE FASHION WEEK 2020+1 as HYPE FREE WATER. We are a team working on the future of water. We want to be able to wear beautiful things without having to make sacrifices like selling out our future or destroying the environment. I look forward to stimulating discussions and getting all of those of you who are new to the event involved in Earth Day."

Born in 1992 and raised in Kanagawa, KOM_I started out singing at home parties. As the vocalist of Wednesday Campanella, she has appeared at festivals in Japan and around the world, touring and creating live performances in harmony with the land and people. Her hobbies include observing rituals and ceremonies passed down from generation to generation around the world, and learning to sing and dance. In addition to her musical activities, she also works as a model, actor, and narrator in various genres.

In April 2019, she released the EP YAKUSHIMA TREASURE, which was produced with Oorutaichi and drew inspiration from Yakushima Island. A new type of music experience "YAKUSHIMA TREASURE ANOTHER LIVE from Yakushima" is now available online here.
