On May 14th, 2021, JALUX Corporation began selling a delicious new ice cream called "Miyazaki Mango Milk," made with a mango puree from Kobayashi City, Miyazaki Prefecture on JAL Shopping, the official mail order website of Japan Airlines.

The manufacturer, HiO ICE CREAM, prides itself on small-lot production leveraging the unique characteristics of the region where the ingredients are made.

In Kobayashi City, Miyazaki Prefecture, which boasts the second-largest mango production in Japan (Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries statistics 2017), more than 30 farms work together to set cultivation standards and produce sweet and fragrant mangos with a high sugar content.

Imperfectly shaped mangos that don't meet the usual commercialization standards are just as sweet and fragrant as standard mangos, so they created a puree to ensure that such mangos would not go to waste. Nevertheless, due to decline in tourism as a result of the novel coronavirus pandemic, the producers were concerned that the bottles of puree would not be consumed. Fortunately, the puree was discovered by the founder of HiO, who was looking for such products in need of rescue, and thus this delicious new ice cream was born.

About half of Miyazaki Mango Milk is made up of mango puree and sauce, so it is packed with the delicious taste of the mangos provided by Kobayashi JA (Japan agriculture collectives). The other star ingredient in Miyazaki Mango Milk is Biei milk from Hokkaido, which is featured in the popular standard flavor of HiO Ice Cream. Customers who purchase will be able to enjoy "Biei Single Origin Milk" ice cream along with Miyazaki Mango Milk together in the same set.

Why not enjoy this sweet and refreshing ice cream while thinking about the sunshine of Miyazaki?
