Nexus, a company based in Tokyo, is producing collaborative special edition sake bottles for Hatsukame Sake Brewery, a long-established sake brewery in Shizuoka prefecture, and classic Japanese anime “Chibi Maruko-chan”.

Ever since its TV debut in 1990, “Chibi Maruko-chan” has been aired at 6 pm on Sunday every week by Fuji TV in Japan, and has gained nation-wide popularity. The show follows the fun and cute story of a 9 year old girl, Maruko-chan (also known as Maru-chan) and her peaceful, sometimes mundane yet comical everyday life that everyone can relate to at one point. Papa Hiroshi is definitely one of the strong characters that gives a kick in their comical storylines.

So, what’s so special about this year’s father’s day? This year’s Father’s day falls on June 20th, Papa Hiroshi’s actual birthday! What a coincidence, right?

With a special design on the labels and ingredients all exclusively from Shizuoka, Hatsukame Sake Brewery is coming up with two sake bottles.

“Jyunmai Ginjo Papa Hiroshi”

Using the high-quality water, rice and yeast from Shizuoka, This sake was made in delicate hands-on process. The result is refreshing aroma and subtle sweetness that spreads on your palate.

On the bottle label, with Shizuoka’s famous landmark, Mt.Fuji , a turtle designed by the author of “Maru-chan” series Momoko Sakura, and an image of first sunrise in the back, Papa Hiroshi smiles with sake in his hand. This comes with a gift box with the same label design. This will be a perfect gift for Father’s day, birthday or any special occasions!

“Jyunmai Daiginjyo Papa Hiroshi”

This sake is one special bottle, made in precise hands-on process using rare type of rice “Aiyama” aka “Diamond of sake rice”. It has tropical fruit aroma and rich sweetness. Original bottle label consists of Papa Hiroshi in Japanese Kimono, Mt.Fuji, first sunrise and turtle designed by Ms.Momoko. It is very close to the design of the Ginjyo bottle label, except the sunrise is foil-stamped, and it is in a wooden box which gives it quite a luxurious taste in design.

What else would say “Thank you for all your hard work” better than this special luxurious gift for Father’s day? It is a limited edition release of 100 bottles. If you are interested, don’t wait too long!
