In Japan, vaccination against the novel coronavirus infection has been gradually ramping up since February 2021.

According to the Prime Minister's Office, as of August 6th, 2021, the vaccination rate among the general public is 45.7% for the first shot and 32.7% for the second shot. The government aims for all citizens who require it to be vaccinated by November 2021.

Benefits of Vaccination

In addition to the preventive benefits of vaccination, residents of Japan can also take advantage of discounts and benefits being provided by a growing number of businesses. All you need to do is show your vaccination certificate or other proof of vaccination indicating you are completely vaccinated. For example, we've already introduced rickshaw ride services and haunted houses offering such services.

We've compiled a further list of such businesses for your reference:

Goods

Yuzawaya handicrafts

At the Yuzawaya ユザワヤ handicraft store, you can get a 20% discount on all regular products (limited to members of the Yuzawaya Tomo no Kai membership club) when you present proof of vaccination (original document required).

The discount can be used as many times as you like. However, some items are not eligible.

Fujikyu Department Store

You'll get 10% off the bill on any cosmetics purchased at Beauty Q and 10% off the bill on purchases made at Toys Q (excluding some products).

Entertainment

Karaoke-Kan karaoke parlors

At all Karaoke-Kan karaoke parlors, if you present proof of vaccination (photo accepted), you can get a 10% discount on the room charge!

It seems that this discount will be available indefinitely. Since it can be used in conjunction with other discounts, it's convenient to use it not only for karaoke but also using the room for telework if you need a private place to work away from home.

At Fujiyama Fitness Venus Life within the Fujikyu Department Store, you'll be charged no admission fee, no administration fee, and no monthly membership fee for 2 months when you sign up.
