One of the highlights of summer in Japan is attending local natsu-matsuri, or summer festivals. While many in attendance don a summer yukata as they take in delicious festival food and drink, enjoy performances and music, the bigger summer festivals in Japan are headlined by spectacular fireworks shows.
This summer has not been an ideal one for outside gatherings, but that doesn't mean the colorful bursts in the night sky are gone. Traditional Japanese tableware maker Shun Japan is taking the show to your dinner table, releasing a set of sake drinking glasses that give off a transformative fireworks display as you fill them with a cold drink!
The sake glass set, decorated with a festive fireworks show, put you in a summer mood on their own, but quickly evolve into something even more vibrant when filled with a cold beverage.
The sake glasses are coated with a special paint that reacts to temperature, so a drink is poured at 17 degrees Celsius or lower (62.6 degrees Fahrenheit), the color of the fireworks change, true to the shifting but beautiful display witnesses at a summer festival in Japan.
Here's a video showing off how they work.
When the temperature of the glass rises above 17 degrees Celsius, the fireworks will return to their original color, whether the drink has become lukewarm or because of the warmth provided by gripping it with your hand, making them a truly transforming and enchanting set of drinkware.

While intended the make of the glasses are intended for savoring sake, they can just as easily be used with any chilled drink of your preference, and come in two distinct styles.
The glasses are also available as sakazuki, traditional saucer-like cups for drinking sake.
The transforming fireworks sake glasses can be ordered in all types from grape SHOP. The drinkware is also available with a blooming cherry blossom motif, and there's also color-changing kitty coffee mugs for cat lovers as well.
