The collectible card video game Touken Ranbu saw its worldwide debut this year -- a full six years since it was first released in Japan. With publisher DMM Games already having an international following, players living abroad were finally able to experience one of the company’s most popular titles.
Not too long after Touken Ranbu’s international launch, video game and anime holding company Koei Tecmo also announced that they’re releasing a spin-off game called Touken Ranbu Warriors in May 2022 for the Nintendo Switch. The growing reach of Touken Ranbu isn’t stopping there, however -- the game has also had events outside of the digital world, with the latest being a Touken Ranbu sweets buffet happening until December 12, 2021 at Hilton Tokyo Odaiba.
The Touken Ranbu Online Strawberry Buffet is a delectable extravaganza, with beautifully made menu items referencing visual aspects of characters from the game. For example, the dark blue soy strawberry pudding is close to the color of the traditional garb that Mikazuki Munechika wears, while one strawberry-topped mint chocolate dessert is referencing Ichigo Hitofuri’s aqua blue hair. There are also a variety of equally colorful cocktails available during the event.
Due to the limited amount of time slots available per day, the buffet has already been fully booked from start to finish. However, there are original merchandise items from the event being sold online. You can find the online store here, and visit the Hilton Tokyo Odaiba event webpage for more information here.
