Tourist attractions don’t have to be big and flashy, in some parts of Japan there’s even stuff worth seeing at your feet while walking outside. Some Japanese manhole covers have colourful designs expressing something about the region, while others feature popular characters from anime or games.

One series of manhole covers which has really taken off is the Pokemon manhole covers, called Poke Lids, or Pokefuta in Japanese. They’ve proved so popular that there’s now 221 designs to be found across Japan by adventurous Pokemon trainers.

This latest round of installations are the first ones to appear in Chiba prefecture. There’s four manhole covers featuring a total of eight Pokemon, and each one can be found in a different part of Katori city.

There’s a design starring Galarian Farfetch’d in a solo appearance holding his iconic leek.

Florges and Fletchling can be found together in a nature-inspired cover. Another design features Lotad, Seedot, and Staravia, having some fun in a pond. Rookidee and Falinks are on a bridge since the manhole cover itself has been installed next to a river.

The locations of Chiba’s new Pokemon manhole covers, along with the ones installed in other regions, can be found on the Poke Lids website.
