With his unique fast paced finger-slapping method of playing guitar (a technique usually reserved to bassists), MIYAVI has attracted attention not just in Japan but from all over the world. Having held numerous world tours and performed more than 350 times in around 30 countries since 1999, MIYAVI may be one of the most successful faces of the music industry to date.

The musician’s works such as the theme song for the Japanese version of “Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation”, compositions for former Japanese boy band SMAP, and music for CMs, has received high praise from other artists and producers both domestically and internationally.
During 2020, the artist started the project “MIYAVI Virtual LIVE” as a way to expand his own expression of himself and to continue ‘delivering’ his passion despite being faced with a global pandemic.
In September of this year, his latest album “Imaginary” was released, followed by 19 LIVE North American performances and the proposal of a Japan-based tour to be held this December.

In addition to his musical activities, MIYAVI is also a seasoned actor and model, regularly appearing as a face in GUCCI’s global collection “Gucci Off the Grid” and having taken part in a number of films and TV productions, including Unbroken (2014), Kong: Skull Island (2017), Bleach (2018), Maleficent: Mistress of Evil (2019), and Arcane (2021).

As one of Japan’s most promising artists, it really comes as no surprise that MIYAVI has been chosen as the musical artist for the opening of the upcoming anime TRIBE NINE.

Set to begin broadcasting from January 2022, TRIBE NINE is part of a multimedia franchise developed by Too Kyo Games which includes a 3D action role-playing smartphone game, a webtoon adaptation and the anime television series of which MIYAVI is collaborating with.

Set in a fictitious parallel version of Tokyo’s 23 wards, the franchise envisions a world where outlaw groups battle against each other for an increase in their prestige, through the use of a dueling method known as ‘extreme baseball’.

For the opening credits, MIYAVI performs the song ‘Strike it Out’ which was composed and arranged by record producer Jeff Miyahara, whilst MIYAVI himself worked on the lyrics.

The ending credits performed by Void_Chords feat. LIO with lyrics written by Konnie Aoki, also deserves a look at.

The anime is being produced by Liden Films, which is the same animation studio behind the popular Tokyo Revengers. Updates to the anime’s release schedule can be followed on the official TRIBE NINE anime website, which also gives you a deeper look into the world surrounding the franchise itself.
