The YouTube channel "nekoniwa" introduces various DIY projects based on life in a "cottage" at an undisclosed location somewhere in the "American countryside."

The channel owner lives in this cottage with many animals including cats and dogs rescued from shelters, as well as chickens.

Her videos are popular not only in Japan but also internationally, as evidenced by the numerous comments written in English.

Bringing the enchanting world of Ghibli films to life

Some of the channel owner's more popular content focuses on recreating the enchanting world of Studio Ghibli films to life in specific rooms of her house.

For example, here's a room inspired by the 2010 film The Secret World of Arrietty:

All the little decorations, all the wallpapering, it's all DIY!

The animals that show up in her video are cute, too.

Not only does she do "Ghibli Room Makeover(s)," but she recreates meals from Studio Ghibli films as well. In this video, she uses lemongrass and marigold from her garden, among other things...

As you can see, she skilfully prepared tasty-looking dishes from Kiki's Delivery Service and Castle in the Sky.

The setting and decoration of the kitchen and dining room perfectly complement each other, creating a wonderful effect.

Her video elicited comments such as: "Watching this makes me long for the slow life," "Thank you for the wonderful video!" or "It's like a fairy tale world!"

The last thing we'd like to show you is her "home cafe" (a cafe-like experience at home) video, which has been viewed over 2.16 million times:

With her great videography and editing skills, she shows how she tends her vegetable garden and waters her plants while interacting with the animals, and then prepares the tasty items for her cafe experience.

Obviously, it's an idealized version of "country living" but it's so peaceful and soothing that people are hooked on her videos and love to watch her enjoying the "slow life" in her beautiful setting in tune with nature.
