The year has just started, but fans of the magical girl genre in Japan have plenty to be happy about already. A gorgeous Madoka Magica themed collection of clothes and accessories was just released, and now the return of a Cardcaptor Sakura cafe has also been announced.

This pop-up cafe first appeared during autumn last year in Tokyo, and now it’s making a grand comeback to let even more fans of the classic anime experience it. This time around it's landing in Osaka and Nagoya.

The theme is ‘Colourful a la Mode’, so the menu and concept of the cafe revolves around the different colourful outfits that the protagonist wears. For example, there’s three ‘doll cakes’ that match Sakura’s dress with various fruits. The pink one is a strawberry cream cake, the blue cake is blue curaçao cream, and yellow is created with mascarpone cream (1650 yen).

These fruits also appear in the drink lineup, with pink, yellow, and blue versions to choose from (990 yen).

The ‘Sweets Party Set’ comes on a tiered afternoon tea stand and it looks perfect for sharing with friends (3960 yen).

Apart from the food, there will naturally be plenty of exclusive merchandise to pick up at the cafe’s shop.

The whole menu can be found on each cafe’s website. The Nagoya event will be taking place at ‘The Guest Cafe & Diner’ in Nagoya Parco from 3rd March to 25th April 2022. For Osaka, it can be found at ‘The Guest Cafe & Diner’ in Shinsaibashi Parco from 31st March to 15th May 2022.
