You might not immediately think of traditional Japan iron cast kettles as a perfect match for anime merchandise, but a recently released Mobile Suit Gundam Zaku head kettle changed our minds in that regard last year.
The Mizusawa Foundry Industry Cooperative Association, which specializes in traditional craft Nanbu ironware, definitely feels the same, as they will be releasing a Nanbu tetsubin iron cast settle inspired by iconic anime Neon Genesis Evangelion.
Nanbu tetsubin are a cast iron kettles and a traditional craft emblematic of Iwate prefecture, with a history of over 900 years.
This release takes those expertly crafted iron kettles and gives them a special design featuring Evangelion Unit-01, piloted by Shinji Ikari. The spout looks almost like an extension of Unit-01's arm, making it a perfect tool for brewing tea for Evangelion fans.
The kettles will be available via an online shop, as well as Evangelion Stores throughout Japan starting March 8th.
