Mamehon Dollhouse's magnificent miniature pop-up dollhouses

Talented Japanese artist 豆本ドールハウス Mamehon Dollhouse (@mame_lili_lily) creates incredibly detailed and complex miniature dollhouses that pop out from a pint-sized book.

As some of our readers may recall, we introduced their 妖怪の棲む館 ("House Where Yokai Live") dollhouse in 2020, which fits an impressive number of yokai, the term for demons, sprites, ghosts, and all other supernatural apparitions of Japanese folklore, within it.

Since then, Mamehon Dollhouse has been very busy, creating dollhouses of various structures and themes, and including new lighting mechanisms and other features to delight both pop-up book and dollhouse enthusiasts alike.

Royal Dolls' House

One of their more recent creations is truly amazing. Here is "The Royal Dolls' House":

Inside an ornately decorated slipcase, you'll find a leatherbound book with an elegant cover printed in gold foil. Open the clasp to release the golden key. As it turns out, this beautiful key is not only a charm but also has a functional purpose since you'll actually use it to activate the lights.

Fold open the dollhouse completely, and you'll find that the front and back cover stay in place with magnets. Each of the four rooms of the house is luxuriously appointed. From the details of the furniture such as commodes, sofas, tables and bed to the chandeliers and lamps which actually light up, a Grand Piano and harp, pets and toys, to the gorgeous decoration of the walls featuring portraits and paintings, the attention to detail and the atmosphere of the dollhouse is truly remarkable.

You can purchase it on Mamehon Dollhouse's online shop, with various options available depending on your preference. For example, you can buy it as a complete product with lights or without lights, made to order, or you can buy it as a kit and build it yourself. Of course, you'll have detailed instructions and a video tutorial, which you can see below:

Some other examples of this talented creator's handiwork are "The Delightful House," with opening panels, wheel mechanism action and features that truly make it a delightful dollhouse...

...The Little Book (Purple), not only cutely decorated but also featuring ingenious lighting details such as a closet with panels that open to reveal a light, and a fireplace with an orange light illuminating it...

...and the Nyanko House, which features a beautiful genuine leather cover, and a different, vertical fold-out structure to create a traditional Japanese house full of cats with a stationery shop (or rather, "stationyary" since "nyan" is "meow" in Japanese) on one side and a residence on the other.
