Hailing from Kanagawa prefecture, self-taught artist Lito specialises in the artistic medium of leaf carving.
The artist began his journey back in 2020, as a form of self-discipline intended to help him balance out his concentration and commitment, which are two things he often struggles with due to ADHD.

Lito has garnered a great deal of attention on both his Instagram and Twitter accounts, which is where he shares a freshly carved design each day. His work has also been featured across a range of media, such as in newspapers and on a variety of TV shows.
At grape Japan, we’ve actually introduced Lito before, in our article which covered his Halloween creations back in 2020.

Here is Lito’s most recent upload as of the 14th of April 2022:

From the 16th to the 24th of April Lito’s work will be displayed at an exhibition in Hiroshima’s Tsutaya Bookstore. This will be the first time for the artist’s designs to be put on show in Hiroshima, and he is hoping to spark and spread positive feelings amongst those who visit the exhibition.

With such a large collection of works, the exhibition will be split into two, with a selection of designs displayed from the 16th to the 20th, and a second set from the 21st to the 24th.

If you enjoy Lito’s intricately carved masterpieces, there will be a number of limited edition “leaf cutout works” available for grabs during the exhibition period.
These are one-of-a-kind designs, and so the sales will be dealt with through a lottery method using the external site “Peatix”. A QR code accessing the site will be installed for visitors to use at the venue.

To visit the exhibition make your way over to Hiroshima T-SITE between the hours of 08:00 – 22:00 from the 16th of 24th of April 2022.
