There's a common story among pet owners preparing for a trip that their pets like to hide in an open space of their unfolded suitcase and refuse to move.

Maybe they just like the confined space. Maybe they sense that their human is going on a trip and want to prevent them from leaving the house. Only the pet knows the reason for its behavior.

Japanese Twitter user 東京の男性さん tōkyō no dansei-san [Man in Tokyo] (@bushidojodo) has a Shih Tzu named Osushi who, much to his chagrin, recently exhibited this behavior.

Human: "Nope."

It happened when the owner's mother visited him.

When his mother was packing her suitcase to get ready for her trip home, Osushi jumped into the suitcase and looked at his human with an adorable gaze.

The owner took a picture of the scene and posted it on Twitter, along with an imagined dialogue that took place between the two.

It almost reads like a comedy routine:

"I understand what you're saying... You mean, if I stay here, you'll take me on the trip?"

"Nope."

"Ah, I see...I understand. In other words, if I'm here, I can go on the trip."

"Nope."

As Shi Tzu owners know, this toy breed is incredibly friendly and people-oriented but at times they can also get quite clingy.

Osushi turns his pure and innocent eyes on his owner, never doubting for one moment that he can't follow him wherever he goes.

And in this imagined dialogue, his human's curt and dispassionate replies create the perfect contrast.

The funny photos and dialogue elicited various comments such as:

  • "If he looked at me like this... I'd want to take him with me."
  • "I laughed so hard!"
  • "My cat is the same way..."

As you can see from the comments above, Osushi is so adorable that he makes you want to pack him in a suitcase and take him with you.

Here comes the cavalry!

In addition to his life with Osushi, Tōkyō no dansei-san currently Tweets about his current passion: Getting ready for the 相馬野馬追 Sōma Nomaoi, a festival designated as an important intangible cultural asset held in Minamisoma City, Fukushima Prefecture, which recreates a battle scene from more than 1,000 years ago.

During the festival, which will be held this year from July 23 to 25th, you may be able to see photos of Osushi together with his owner dressed in armor since he is participating as a cavalry soldier!
