Garbage days in Japan can be a little bit of a hassle if you don't keep on top of things. With designated days for disposing burnable, non-burnable, recycling, etc., if you don't make it just on time you can end up with a leftover bag of trash to hold onto until next week--usually with a not from city officials shaming you for your mistake.

Japanese Twitter user Beta (@onecuprain) got a glimpse of that kind of public shaming--only it wasn't from city officials, but rather some neighbors with a sense of humor. When passing by the garbage collection spot of their apartment complex, Beta noticed that a thoughtful resident had left a funny reminder on someone's mistaken trash bag:

The bag has been tagged with an illustration of singer Masayuki Suzuki, and a play on the lyrics to his song "Chigau, Sou janai" ("Nope, that's not it"), referencing the neighbor's mistake of leaving out plastic garbage on the wrong day. It reads "Nope, it's not today. Plastic garbage is on Tuesday." The lyrics have become somewhat of an online meme in Japan when informing someone that they are incorrect.

Here's the song if you'd like to read those lyrics to the tune!

Typically when you see a note attached to your unpicked up trash, you can only assume the worst--but having a neighbor with a sense of humor like this definitely helps take the edge off! The photo took off on Twitter, becoming a big hit with people who have made the same mistake. Just remember--plastic garbage is thrown away on Tuesday!
