As part of its Gashapon 45th Anniversary Project, Bandai Co., Ltd.'s vendor business will release the Gashapon Station W (Double), a capsule toy vending machine that accepts both cash and cashless payment. The machine will make its debut at the Gashapon Department Store opening in AEON MALL KYOTO (Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture) on November 2nd, 2022, with subsequent implementation planned in other locations nationwide. Of the 2,520 capsule toy vending machines in the new store, 360 of them will be Gashapon Station W (Double).
In 2019, Bandai released its "Smart Gashapon" which exclusively accepted cashless payment, but the Gashapon Station W (Double) accepts both cash and cashless payment, thereby enabling Bandai to respond more effectively to the diverse needs of its customers.
Gashapon Station W (Double) is compatible not only with domestic cashless services such as PayPay ｄ払い dī-barai, メルペイ merupei and au PAY, but also with foreign services such as WeChat Pay and ALIPAY, making it easy for customers from overseas to purchase capsule toys when they visit Japan.
The machines are easily recognizable from their design featuring the cashless payment logos at the top of the cabinet.
For updated information on the locations where you'll find Gashapon machines, see Bandai's official website here (Japanese only).
