Leave the gun, take 7-Eleven Japan’s new delicious chocolate cannoli

With a delicious variety of puddings and chocolate whipped cream sandwiches, it's hard to be surprised by the tastiness of their sweets section anymore. Their jumbo take on last year's maritozzo craze in Japan may take the cake, however.

But when we saw that 7-Eleven had another popular Italian pastry on the shelf, we just had to try it to see if it held down the fort on their "so good we can't believe it's convenience store food" rep: a chocolate chip covered baked cannoli!

7-Eleven's "Baked Cannoli" serves up a particularly crispy fried pastry dough stuffed with a ricotta cream that protrudes out the ends of the pie and is topped with chocolate chips. Opening it up, we were immediately struck by just how many chocolate chips covered the cream portion of the cannoli, which is priced at only 194 yen.

Despite the overflowing appearance, cutting it open revealed some pretty tightly packed cream--which we appreciated because the thick and flaky pie crust is quite filling. The ricotta cream itself had a slightly sour but refreshing flavor to it that turned this cannoli into a surprisingly light snack, but a dangerous one as the combo of crispy pie crust, generous dose of chocolate chips, and creamy finish could easily lead to you polishing off more than a few in one go.

Those looking for a crispy and creamy refreshing dessert (or breakfast, no judging) on their next conbini run should leave the gun and take 7-Eleven's new chocolate Baked Cannoli!
