On December 1st, 2022, Tokyu Stay, a national hotel chain with branches throughout Japan, concluded a franchise agreement with Mercure, a hotel brand operated by Accor, one of the world's largest hospitality groups based in Paris, France. Based on this agreement, Tokyu Stay opened a double-branded hotel called "Tokyu Stay Mercure Osaka Namba."
Combining Tokyu Stay's unrivaled excellence in mid- to long-term accommodations, with washer/dryers, microwave ovens, and mini-kitchens in guest rooms, and Mercure's high-quality interior design, Tokyu Stay Mercure Osaka Namba provides an everyday life experience which is a cut above the rest.
Conveniently located in the center of Osaka's "Minami" area, the hotel is only a 4-5 minute walk from either Namba or Shinsaibashi stations. It's also an ideal base for sightseeing since Dotonbori, the Shinsaibashisuji shopping district, and Amerika-mura are all within walking distance.
We attended a preview opening event and enjoyed a trial stay which allowed us to experience the hotel's considerable charms.
Staying at Tokyu Stay Mercure Osaka Namba
Upon entering the hotel, the first thing that catches your eye is how "green" the front desk area is. The atrium is bright and spacious.
There's a delightful courtyard in front of the front desk. Even though the hotel is in the beating heart of a bustling city, here you can unwind in a relaxing space surrounded by greenery.
When we headed up to the second floor, we found a lounge with a stylish billiard table and a gym so you can get some exercise. That's particularly important for those making an extended stay at the hotel.
As we explored further inside the hotel, we found artistic decorations in various places.
The hotel is designed with the concept of a "creator's atelier." Just by walking around, you'll encounter many playful works of art.
We were particularly surprised by the elevator with its vivid neon lights.
There are various types of rooms available, but we stayed in the "Privilege Queen Living" type room for mid to long-term guests.
The black color scheme creates a relaxed atmosphere, while the walls, lighting, and other elements of the room show an attention to detail.
We also appreciated how the everyday living facilities such as the washer/dryer, microwave oven, and refrigerator, which "Tokyu Stay" is known for, were installed in locations that didn't interfere with the interior design.
There's also storage space for large luggage, which will surely be helpful during long-term stays.
Overall, we found our accommodations to be spacious and easy to unwind and relax in.
Of course, as comfortable as the rooms may be, guests have other needs as well. You can enjoy a delicious meal at one of the hotel's restaurants, or take a wander around the lively Dotonbori area. There are endless things to do both inside and outside the hotel.
One day just isn't enough time to enjoy all that this hotel has to offer. We imagine many guests will leave the hotel, as we did, thinking: "If I could, I would stay one more night..."
