Maikos are an apprentice of geiko – they look sort of like geisha but they don’t engage in the sort of activities portrayed in novels and movies.

If you walk around streets of Kyoto, you see Maiko walking around and it really adds a special something to your visit there.

However, some of these Maiko-sans have been starting a new trend:

People have been making comments on twitter, and opinion is divided.

It surely keeps the kimono looking good – pretty nifty.
