Have you heard of the band YMO? It is a Japanese electronic music band, known for its innovative sounds not just within Japan, but also overseas as well. They were exceptionally popular during the 80s.

One of the members Ryuichi Sakamoto is also known for his film music ‘The Last Emperor’.

This is the sort of sound that the YMO is well known for:

About 30 years later, their famous tracks comes alive again… in a music store by 3 amateur musicians. Wearing pretty casual clothes, the 3 men look like ordinary shoppers but they bring back the memory of legendary artists in their prime.

Although the sounds are far from identical, it goes to show how much music technology has improved – a good variety of synth sounds can now be accessed through relatively cheap keyboards.
