Photographer Vadim Trunov specializes in nature-related photography, with subjects ranging from fungi to snails. This time, however, he's giving us a closer look at the more playful side of one of Mother Nature's lovable critters--squirrels!

But Trunov didn't simply just walk up to squirrels and take snap shots of them goofing off, instead he set up bait that they just couldn't help but play with, and took some cheerful photos that capture the playful spirit of squirrels just being curious about things. He explains his tactics in an interview with Twisted Sifter:

In the forest, where squirrels often run, I put to earth food (nuts). Squirrels often returned to this place in order to get more nuts. Then on the same place I put the thing (camera). Squirrels examined and sniffed these foreign objects, hoping to find nuts. Using this method, I was able to take pictures of interesting stories.

So let your hair down and enjoy these squirrels doing squirrel things, and be sure to check out more of Trunov's work!
