When work requires you to sit in front of a computer all day, sometimes (or more like all the time) you lose focus and start squirming around in your chair. You can’t pick your own work desk or chair, so they’re not always positioned comfortably enough for you to get ‘in the zone.’

But a startup in California called altwork came up with a desk that caters to anyone who spends long hours in front of a screen, and morphs itself to conform to the way you work.

This new work desk has 4 modes: standing, collaboration, regular, and focus. These modes make it possible for you to choose to work standing up, sitting (regular), lying down (focus), or with other people (collaboration). With a simple push of a button, you can alternate between each of these modes depending on how you want to work in that particular moment.

And don’t worry — the desks are magnetic, so you won’t be suffering any painful blows to your face from any of your precious gadgets.

Altwork describes that their objective is to “redefine how your computer and workstation work with you, to support you in being more productive, comfortable, and healthy.”

Wouldn’t it be cool if all the desks at our offices were this? But that probably won’t be happening any time soon; the price of this reclining desk is a whopping $5,900! (Unless you buy one off the first run, in which case you can snag one of these babies for a mere $3,900.)

But until most of us can afford that, we’re stuck to working our butts off in our un-reclining, non-magnetic desks. What a cruel, cruel world.
