Have you ever been a water for a customer before? If the answer is yes, you definitely understand the job is difficult. Since Japan is a perfectionist in terms of servicing people, being a waiter is way more stressful and challenging than most other countries. In many restaurants such as Izakaya, a friendly place where various choices of Japanese foods can be ordered, it is an obligation to wipe the tables two times or more even if the table is sparkling.

As you might know, one of the most difficult challenges of being a waiter is to carry glasses of filled drinks to serve customers. At any moment if you spill it, especially on customers, the next thing will probably have you to take off your uniform and never come back the store again.

Recently in Yokohama, there was a fifth annual Waiters Race Japan event. It is a perfect chance for us to see the true strength a Japanese waiter’s service. An event to carry two-third filled glasses of water and alcohol bottles while speed walking at the same time. The more athletic waiters can even smoothly run through the race peacefully with a standard smile for customers on their face.
