When a donkey was stranded in rising floodwaters in Killorglin, Ireland, the Animal Heaven Animal Rescue was quick to organize a rescue.

“Code red. Today’s emergency. Please help me. There is a donkey stranded in deep flooding in Kilorglin,” the AHAR wrote on their Facebook post.

In response to this call, Mike Fleming of the Killorglin rowing club got on his rowboat and headed towards the scene.

Having reached the donkey’s location, Fleming and other rescuers reeled him in using a rope and a floatation device.

When the donkey was finally safe on land, he couldn’t help but break out into the sweetest grin.

He was named Mike after his hero, and will be returning to his owner after the floods are gone and he fully recuperates.
