Although all dogs and cats can be forgiven for their innocent cute mistakes, sometimes they may ruin a person’s entire life. In another sense, it could be mostly the owner’s fault.

The incident happened in one of the traditional annual road running relays in Gunma Prefecture on New Year’s Day. A small dog suddenly came out and tripped a front line runner. The Japan-based Kenyan runner Paul Mutero Kuira did recover quickly from a falling position, but was hardly able to keep up with other front line runners.

Kuira may trained for over a year or longer for this final moment, as he was sponsored by Japanese technology company Konica Minolta. But he has to face the unpredictable reality of life. The tumble bumped him down to 12th place for that section of the race. He ended in second place, with a gap of only 21 seconds between the first place and second place teams. The victory loss caused by a small dog can be hard to judge.

On the other hand, Japan Tokyo Olympics is coming in 2020. Net users are seriously concerned that the unfair situation may happen again, but we hope everything goes well as this may be a good lesson before the big event comes.
