The influence of Japanese film and culture on Star Wars has been well documented, and the two just seem to make for perfect partners in art, but as this footage of Star Wars: The Force Awakens posted by Kylo Renoir shows, the connection can be made just about anywhere.

While it may come across as a bit forced, you have to at least applaud the effort and humor of this footage from Star Wars: The Force Awakens to look like a cliche anime opening sequence. The song is "Colors" by Japanese music group Flow, and was actually used as the first opening of popular anime Code: Geass. It's got all the must-have signs of an anime opening in 2016:

Demonstrably cool poses? Check.

Fast air travel? Check.

People looking desperate? Check.

People looking suddenly hopeful? Check.
