We normally associate hot springs to be a place out in places remote from central cities.

This impression might make stopover tourists to Japan give up on going to onsen (Japanese word for hot springs) altogether. But don't give up: Kanto region (where Tokyo is) is actually full of hot springs! Here are 5 accessible hot springs or spa places that would give you a good Japanese experience, soaking yourself in a hot bath.

Shimizuyu (Musashikoyama)

It's natural hot springs, in the middle of Tokyo. And it's only 460 yen (approx. 5 USD) to enjoy. After a good bath, going to a nearby bar would gold.

This place has two different types of hot springs (which respectively become men's or women's bath depending on the day). On top of that, there is an outdoor bath as well! There is an 1.3-kilometer-long shopping street nearby, so you could check in at this spa after your shopping to wind down.

Only 30 minutes from Shibuya, but the place feels like a secret tourist location. Beat that!

Mizokuchi Onsen Kirari

This place is pretty spacious with good facility. You can have a decent meal as well.

Kohmeisen (Nakameguro)

Now this is right in the middle of Tokyo. The place was recently renovated to look modern and clean.

Well, there you have it! If you can manage to head into central Tokyo, then there's no excuse to go to one of these wonderful hot springs!
