In case you hadn't heard, the King of the Monsters has a new film coming out in Japan this month. Titled Shin-Gojira, or Godzilla: Resurgence, Japan's favorite monster is returning to the big screen in a film co-directed by Hideaki Anno (Neon Genesis Evangelion) and Shinji Higuchi (Attack on Titan). Promotional campaigns for the film have included tie-ups with Neon Genesis Evangelion, and now they are moving into happy hour with what can be considered a celebratory Godzilla whisky.

To celebrate the release of the new film hitting Japanese theaters on July 29th, as well as commemorate the film as the impressive 29th installment in the Godzilla series, the King of the Monsters is getting two special Scotch whiskies released in his own name. Liquor store Shinanoya has appropriately matched a 24-year age Hector McBeth with the original Godzilla (22,800 yen/$218.64) and the titular new Godzilla with a 6-year age Talisker (13,800 yen/$132.36). While Shinanoya will sell these commercially starting August 5th, a special celebratory event will be held at Speyside Way in Jiyugaoka, where visitors can admire Godzilla posters, commemorative goods, and informative lecture sessions while tasting the whisky.

The event will take place on July 17th, and run from 6:00 PM until midnight. Reservations can actually be made via Shinanoya's online shop here. Attendance is limited to 80 people, but for 5000 yen ($47.97) you can get whisky and light food while you celebrate the King of the Monsters and his longevity.
