In case you missed it, Tokyo City View in Roppongi Hills is currently hosting an amazing and somewhat interactive gallery exhibition that showcases the art and wonderful charm of Studio Ghibli films. The exhibit features a board-able Cat Bus and even a cafe that serves Ghibli film inspired food. Our trip to the exhibit convinced us that it's a fitting celebration of 30 years of the famed animation studio, and has a nostalgic power that really makes you feel as if you've been transported into the worlds of the films. However, it appears that once the sun goes down the exhibition becomes even more gorgeous.

Perhaps one of the main attractions and most impressive displays is this airship from Castle in the Sky, which shows off Miyazaki's love of aviation and takes you right back to the film's opening. It gracefully flutters up and down to look like it is constantly mid-flight, like this:

At night, the massive airship, with its rotating propellers, lights up like a beautiful lantern. This is captivating enough on its own, but adds a special bonus when one takes into account that it augments the already special view of Tokyo from the Tokyo City View window. Catching this sight at the exact right time will make it appear as if the airship is actually gliding over Japan.

And considering the Cat Bus also lights up at night, there's a good chance you could see it roaming over Tokyo like kitty kaiju as well.

The ongoing exhibit will run until September 11th.
