The Japanese art of origami has been shared and enjoyed as both hobby and decoration around the globe, and now it is being used to actually light up rooms. Umut Yamac, a London-based architect and designer, has made these amazing and elegant origami lamps. The lamps appear folded as actual origami, and are constructed from synthetic paper. As an added bonus of vibrant charm, the perched birds actually swing and sway when touched, or are blown by wind.

Yamac created these delightful lamps, called The Perch Family, for Moooi, and they then launched at the Salone del Mobile. The family of six origami birds definitely illuminate rooms, with both light and charm.
