If you're not totally familiar with the Japanese modeling scene, then the term "race queen" may be a bit confusing to you. In Japan, race queens are essentially pin-up girls or booth babe-esque models that are usually featured in racing promotions. While they typically wear revealing and attention-getting outfits, EVA-Racing has their race queens dressed up in costumes inspired by popular Neon Genesis Evangelion characters.

Race queen models such as Hikichi Yuumi, Noro Haruna, Kamio Mizuki, Hoshijima Sayaka, and Maruyama Honami model in outfits based off of Rei Ayanami, Asuka Langley Soryu, Mari Illustrious Makinami、and sometimes even Shinji Ikari and Kaworu Nagisa. The actual cars in the race are modeled after Shinji's plug suit and the color scheme of EVA-01. They're present also doubles as a promotional for an Evangelion smart phone game, and may be the best way to pull anime fans to the race tracks in Japan.

Even Pen Pen gets in on the action!

And of course, like every other event in Japan, there is always food on sticks.
