Tea in Japan: A complete guide to Japanese Tea
Nanaya, a matcha gelato shop originally from Shizuoka Prefecture, has gained fame and insane popularity for serving the most intense matcha-flavored ice cream in the world. With a selection of different levels of matcha richness ranging from 1 to 7 (from least intense to the darkest in the world), matcha lovers far and wide have visited this gelato shop to get a bittersweet taste.
Earlier this year, Tokyo's first Nanaya branch opened in the historical tourist spot of Asakusa. But in response to its explosive success, the gelato shop will soon be opening a brand new location in the posh streets of Aoyama, the second to open in Tokyo.
The new store will be named Tea & Spoon Nanaya, and is scheduled to have its grand opening on August 19th, 2016. Customers will of course be able to try Nanaya’s most famous menu, the matcha gelato, in addition to many other matcha-flavored sweets.
The sweets include Nanaya’s matcha daifuku (stuffed mochi), available for the first time ever outside the Shizuoka store, along with matcha cookies, matcha chocolate, and other sweets made from delicious Fujie matcha. They will also be offering tea for visitors who want matcha with their matcha!
For anyone looking for a traditionally Japanese way to cool off during the summer, a trip to Tea & Spoon Nanaya is guaranteed to be more than worth it.
